I've done your route many times. Wicksteed is great fishing in north west bay. Great camp there also. Darky is fabulous with great fishing for smallies, walleye, and lake trout. Ballard holds large mouth and good walleye around the rock narrows in the middle (good population of moose also). The portage from Darky to Brent is a killer. Almost as bad as the Gratton Death March. I would skip camping on Wicksteed and go to the north islands on Darky or use the point where the Darky River drops into the lake. Great trout fishing right out from the camp.
