It's not really accurate to call the plastic Miller bottles "reusable". You can, of course, re-use them for a water bottle, leech container, etc; but they're not intended to be re-used for beer.
It's glass bottles that are illegal. The Miller bottles are legal because they are plastic and not intended for re-use.
I've used them. Beer is heavy whether you carry it in plastic, in glass, or in a pony. And, depending on your taste for beer, it can certainly be worth it to have a few along.
I've always squashed mine and packed them out with the rest of the litter. As for where to get them, you might want to do some phone work. I found only a couple of places in my area that carry them. However, last time I was in Ely I saw a liquor store advertising that they had them in stock.
