I took an old green box on a short trip once. Didn't see any fish, and I wouldn't say it had any real effect on the fishing one way or the other. Still it was great to get an idea of what was under the surface. It added a whole new dimension I wish I could see more of. The terrain underwater is as interesting as that above.

While respecting everyone's ideas about necessities vs luxuries, I reserve the right to laugh at what people "need." I probably carry 20 pounds of photo junk so I figure I've provided enough humor to share a laugh. If I had room, (and maybe a third arm) a locator would be nice. Still, the best locator is the one in your friend's canoe.
