Re: Carp Lake Entry Point Ideas

I’ve made a couple of trips to Carp. One each we based camped there. The last was made in early July of 1999. You might know the significance of this date, if not you should before you arrive. Carp is in the blow down area and fire restrictions are in place.

We have had great Smallmouth and Pike fishing on each trip. The best Smallmouth fishing was on Fisher and Beaver Lake. Both had large numbers of fallen trees on their Southern banks that we fished with plastic leeches and small crank baits. Fisher lake has a small waterfall that feeds into the lake about mid way along the Southern shore that was productive. Another honey hole, if you have time is in beaver lake. It’s located on its Northeast shore where a crumbling rock wall has deposited large boulders.

There is also a waterfall that feeds from Sheridan into Carp. On my first trip I caught a 34” Northern there. On each trip we picked up quite a few Northerns trolling around the shoreline in the evening around the falls with large spoons and 5-7” straight and jointed rapalas attached with steel leaders.

We spent a half a day on Emerald on the first trip. I can’t recall the fishing, but it was a beuatiful lake. The second trip we were unable to get to Emerald due to the portage being blocked by the storm.

Hope this helps. Let us know how the trip turns out.

PS: Go Cats!!!
