In the news just today there was word that a recent study showed that a single dose of a certain antibiotic taken within 72 hours of the tick bite was quite effective in preventing the onset of Lyme disease. It might be worth checking with your doctor if the need arises.

The other thought is if you get the rash you're fortunate in a way. Not all infected persons get the rash, so they don't realize what they've got.
