I guess I will answer that one with a question myself Pascanell. Where do you draw the line between necessity and comfort? Believe me, I am familiar with your argument. I knew a guy who was going to spend 10 days, alone (on the God's River) with nothing but a canoe, paddle, buck knife, fishing rod-n-reel, wool blanket and tarp, and 10 matches. Needless to say he returned in 2 days most misesrable. He lost his shoes on a portage day 1 (nay, hour 1) and found that he could not bear to fillet a fish because of fear that he was going to be carried away by mosquitoes. And as far as "City Comforts" as you call them. I'm not from the "City" and don't use these items while at home anyway. And portaging them? It's simple you dolt. You pick it up and carry the crap! By the way, that guy who did the God's River was me.
