Re: Weapons in the BWCAW

The purpose of bringing a firearm to BWCAW or any were else were it is legal to do so is for personel protection. Please tell me what is stupid about protecting my self and loved one's from harm? Does the fact that I may be armed Bother you just a bit, It shouldn't, Please you do not need to be fearfull of me, I am a law abiding citizen and have proper firearm training. If you were running down a portage trail and a mentally challeged individual who has not been taking there proper medicine was running after you, not with a gun in his hand but a 5 pound rock in hand, and he was mumbling somthing like I am going to beat your brains in, chances are he will be succesful, if he is in better physical condition then you are, however as you run past me and see that I am armed I bet there is a chance's that you will be asking me to help save your life. I once thought like you, thinking most people we meet are good people, and 99% are good people, but there are bad apples every were we go. Hope for the best prepare for the worst. My experiece is to prepare for the unexpected. The question is why would anyone go into the wilderness and not have the means to protect themselves or loved one's?
