Re: Weapons in the BWCAW

I happen to be a law abiding citizen who carries a gun mostly just in my vechicle. The truth is I carry it for one reason. To protect myself, my family, and others like you who are unable to defend themselfs from the "bad guys". I have carried a handgun for almost 20 years now. Have I ever had to use it? No. But I did have to show it to a road raged trucker who brought a tire iron to beat my brains in. He changed his mind. The issue is mostly about rights that the government is slowly stealing from us. Don't fear the guy that claims his handgun, fear the guy that does not. As for your comment about bears. Some people (not me) happen to be very afraid of bears. If it makes them feel better to have "insurance" and it is legal. Let them. In 1989, we had a 350 or so lb bear walk into camp in the middle of the morning, pick up our food pack and take off. This happened to others as well.
You can cut a piece of hardwood, make it into a bow and arrow, and kill a bear with it. So don't carry on like a .45 cal won't take care of a bear.
You think it's stupid? I think, you're ignorant.
Hey, why don't we talk about something important like walleyes or Smallies.
