Carp lake is one of my favorite lakes in Quetico. Been there 6 times, caught more than 10 smallies over 5#. If you are going with inexperienced anglers, make sure to take a few minutes to fish the downstream side of the portage into Carp-as you enter it.(fish from canoes-people get justifiably mad at people who fish from shore at portage heads) Use natural colored small plastics, and I guarantee they will catch some smallmouth. The bottom of the stream from Sheridan is also outstanding. Find any weedbeds and you will find action. For more patient, experienced anglers, vertical jigging off deeper main lake points will be an experience you won't soon forget. Sheridan is a great lake too, well worth checking out. Hike/explore the island on the far north of Carp for a day. Good luck, and may your portages be short, and the breezes gentile on your back. Posted by pondo on June 28, 2001 at 15:47 |
