By far the dumbest thing ever was that stupid chamois pack towel I bought from Piragis. They made it sound so good in the catalog. SUCKER! The catalog itself would have worked just as well.

I'm still not sure if a Leatherman is useful or not. Never been used once in 5(?) trips and it's dang heavy. If I stop taking it I'll probably need it.

My best major purchase was a graphite rod. No contest! The difference is amazing. More good items include platypus water and Nalgene fuel bottles. Another good buy was a Quest rainfly. Expensive, but a few more shredded tarps would have cost more. Quieter is a good point that is worth a few more keystrokes repeating. I can still hear the blue ones crinkling in every little breeze. The lighter color is helpful also.
