Re: Photography in the Q

Doug,
I've loved nature photography since I first sat in the pile of Nat. Geo's at my grandmas house
years ago. I have shot a "billion" photos and it's just like anything else practice... and a lot
of luck.
I have been going solo on my trips this past couple years, and I haven't posted every trips
photos, the all rain excursions didn't produce real good results.
Although I say I'm going dust off the old FTb and accouterments for a trip sometime, I never
do. I use a Canon ELPH, it's about the size of a deck of cards, uses the 20mm APX. Short
focal length zoom, BI flash. Need to carry extra batteries. I often do not frame photos through the
view finder, I just point, pray, shoot. My last photos posted here, the shot of the "liquid steel"
and turtle shots were point and shoot, that's the luck part I was mentioning. Other times I'll
have to work on the shot, take time, framing, autofocus and autoexposure can be a disadvantage
sometimes. I have a micromini tripod I carry as well. I'm actually amazed the camera delievers
as well as it does, but I know 35mm would be significantly more refined.
Looking forward to seeing your shots.
Happy paddling, happy shooting, Jeff
