I'd think that:
1. Your fortitude is commendable
2. That being remote is relative. In BW and Quetico
remote has just as much to do with time of year as
it does distance travelled.
3. With your 'most likely' krew, I'd stay away from the
big water (windbound) or small streams that could be
drier than you'd want.
4. I'd focus on lakes that have a good smallmouth
population - and I'd bring live bait.
5. And I'd encourage you to sit down with your charges and
have them help with the trip planning - those that are
invested are much less likely to complain 1/2 way in.
Keep watching these bulletin boards and get a sense.
Then make your choice and request your permit early
(like Jan/Feb).
6. -- No canoe trip is a bad canoe trip - some are just
more challenging than the others.
