Yeah! I'd like to hear what they were getting. I've only duck hunted the BWCA once and it was pretty slow. We shot ringbills and ruddy ducks, and not many of either. A funny story about that trip: My buddy and I did a windy-day afternoon paddle on a swampy river, doing what is called "jump shooting"--for those who aren't waterfowl hunters the stern paddler paddles slow, staying to the inside turns while the bow paddler is ready with the gun. On a portage we came across a couple who would be best described as "hobbit-like" in their appearance and dress. My buddy was talking to the guy when the woman asked me "Are you hunting goose?" I thought for a second and said "ducks, actually, but I'd love to get a shot at a goose". She gave me a horrible look and I portaged along with my 12ga shotgun deciding it was best not to get into an arguement if she was an anti-hunter. Back in the canoe I relayed the story to my budddy and he broke out laughing. When he stopped, he let me know that they were there trying to protect the moose as it was moose season as well. I guess I couldn't hear that well due to the wind and heard "goose" instead of "moose". What a person would be doing hunting a moose with a 12 ga is beyond me.
