first: I'm not a hunter- (unfortunately!)- but I'm a LIFE Member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.)!!
I feel that Now is the time for EVERYONE that values their RIGHTS- To JOIN & SUPPORT the N.R.A.!
Support and Defend YOUR RIGHTS--- of which the RIGHT to Keep and Bear ( Own, Posess, and Carry!) Firearms, is under ATTACK by hoards of PSEUDO-LIBERALS-(People who think they have the right to take away your Rights, and believe they are "LIBERAL" /open minded/working to expand our Freedoms! (HAAAA!!!!)
Second: I noticed that you seemed to have the idea that a 12 ga. shotgun would not be an effective gun for hunting Moose. I suspect that it would be a very good weapon for that purpose!! The 12 ga. shotgun, loaded with the proper slugs- as is used to hunt white tail deer and lots of other species too!, would be well suited to taking down a moose in this type of terrain!!
When I was canoeing in the S.W. region, in Oct 99, and again in Sept. 00, I heard lots of gunfire- off in the distance. On my way home in Oct 99, I encountered a few guys in trucks along the backroads- the had a large bull moose quartered in the back end of two of the trucks!!
a large moose will fill up a truck in a hurry!
During my week out- solo- I saw 9, yes 9, moose in 8 days. Only one was a bull, the others were all adult cows, some with nearly grown calves! There are lots of moose in these parts! As long as they are hunted legally, / legitimately, I trust that the DNR has good data on the local moose population densities, and has good accurate input from permit holding hunters- so that Hunters and non-hunters alike can enjoy lots of moose in these areas!
Remember - Even the BWCA benefits from the money spent by hunters , every year! The only THREAT comes from people who would poach wild life illegally!! They kill, and steal from all of us, and if caught, I hope they get the maximum punishment possible= no mercy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Though I don't yet hunt myself, I appreciate the skill involved- they are the same skills used by any one hoping to find a wild animal to photograph!! so I hope we can all learn to get along!!!!!- Don't be a PSEUDO-LIBERAL!
and , When you encounter hunters, thank them for being good stewards of our BWCA!!!
