Ditto on the flashlight batteries, ya, hey? Great ideas, Greg! Here are a few more... Swimming, swimming and more swimming (yes, you may have to swim with them). Pinecone birdfeeders (using twine, any kind of butter and any kind of seed or nuts). Reading books, playing cards, games, puzzles, puppets and stuffed animals. Lots of exploring. Learning about fire (and safety!). Then, storytelling around the campfire. I've found it doesn't have to be an especially good story, just a story. Childhood recollections seem to work well. Hot chocolate...with marshmallows...toasted marshmallows. Playing "rock the boat" is another great game. Music is also magical for many kids. Okay, I’m rambling… One of the greatest things about camping (or anything else) with small children is the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of a child!
