Yes, it is sad to see some our "once great" waterways get spoiled. I am a realtor by profession and have sold many of the resorts and campgrounds on the Ash River and Kabetogama so I know the area quite well. I believe that our resources should be used but this area has crossed over into "abused" if you know what I mean. If you want a nice kayak adventure with decent ammenities perhaps Lake Vermillion or Birch Lake in Babbitt, MN would be suitable. Vermillion is quite developed on the south shore but Birch Lake is virtually untouched with the exception of the occasional float plane.
