Re: Quetico Lake options

My experience has been that traffic on Cirrus is lighter than the Quetico "highway" into Jean. I read a comment the other day about light traffic on Jean itself. I was lucky enough to catch it that way a few years back. In recent years, however, it's been tougher finding campsites there. While the Oriana, Jesse, Elizabeth route has yielded good wildlife sightings for me, I prefer heading into Lonely via Little Jean & Yeh, despite the long portage into Lonely. If you like "variety" fishing, you might be able to pick up some decent largemouth bass on Yeh (also an excellent area for wildlife).

If you're on Lonely primarily for the fishing, be sure to try outside the stream on the southern tip of the lake, just below the long portage. Also, I found the ticks to be miserable on that lake.

Your fishermen will be happy whichever route you choose.
