Cool! I got the idea in the first place when we were on Knife and we were paddling. A group that was going in the same direction, we saw a kid put a paddle up with a sail type thing on it and they were going right along. They were traveling as fast as if not faster than us paddling, and I was sure tired and I wished so baddly that I was them right then.

We tried that same idea on a previous trip on a different but larger lake, only with 2 canoes together. That was too difficult.. we were trying to hang on to eachother and trying to hold the tarp up with our hands.

How exacly did you tie that tarp to the end of the paddle?? With a small piece of rope??
