I am a professional photographer and have been to Quetico 2x. I have only traveled in small groups, but my recomendation is to devlope a good eye. Look for good shots at all time, keeping your camera in a dry bag with easy acess at all times- even portaging. Two years ago a took some incredible shots of grouse just after heavy rain on the horse portage. I was honestly less than 2 feet from them, but only for about 2 min. Just keep your equipment simple and easy to shoot in a hurry.
