Open season on stumps.

I was spending a wonderful week in the BWCA just before Memorial Day, when it dawned on me that the campsite was being overrun by stumps. Sitting in the comfort of my camp chair, I easily counted 40 stumps in and around the camping area. Some were old veterans and had served as chopping blocks or stools/seats or tables. Most were just a nuisance, unsightly and a menace to easy walking in the camp. It was at that moment I declared war on stumps in the campsites of the BWCA.
Many stumps were easily kicked out and made a nice hot fire. Some were solid, and will get kicked again next year; if they budge they will become wood for my fire.
You Quetico campers probably think you are above this fray, but I've been there and know that an open season on stumps in the Quetico is not too far in the future.

So I,m calling for an all out assault on useless and ugly stumps in the BWCA. Either you are with me, or you're with the stumps.
