I have only portaged into Poacher from Basswood. It's an easy trail, but it goes along a swampy area and the bugs are deadly. Caught some lakers, saw a Moose close up (too close), and had the entire lake to ourselves the whole time. It's a very beautiful, secluded lake with good fishing. A little far to go for a day trip for me though. My cousin caught a 12# 34" walleye on Sunday Lake. We Were jigging white twister tails off of the main lake point on the north side of the lake. Sunday is 180+ feet deep in the middle and infertile. 6 of us fished it for 2 days and the Walleye was all we got (but it was plenty!). We didn't fish the inlet from Poacher. Have fun on your trip.
