I paddled up Bearpelt Creek the week on 5/20/02. The water levels are still good, although I'm told that they are not as high as last year. The first portage from Wolseley Lake is a bit muddy as the high water from last year and this year and probably some beaver work has resulted in the creek starting to cut a new path to the east of the portage. There are also about a half dozen beaver dams to lift over. We camped on the island as you first enter the main part of the lake. We had more than enough room for our group of 8 there. There is also a nice campsite along the east shore on the north end of the lake. This site is really obvious since there is a tall stack of rocks for a campfire on the rock that gently slopes into the lake. Posted by arnesr on June 07, 2002 at 13:10 |
