Chief, I think what you'll to hear is: "highly variable." I've done a few June trips into Quetico and have encountered strikingly different weather patterns. It can be very hot (nearly 100 degrees) & buggy. It also can be very rainy (3 & 4 day soakers) with a chill wind. Cooler Spring weather patterns, like this year, are a mixed blessing, I suppose. Most reports I've read this year made mention of surprisingly "low bug counts" & cooler temps this past June. Of course, now that the heat is on, I'm now reading all about July exploding with bugs! Seems to me that I read somewhere that June is historically the "rainiest" time of the year in the region, so be prepared. Also, in very early June I've encountered some especially soggy portage trails that are otherwise dry later in the season... perhaps as a result of late Spring thaws. Anyhow, such has been my experience in June. As for me, I try to sneak a trip in - whenever possible - before Memorial Day & the onset of heat & bugs. Good luck.
