Re: Maybe - Damn shame about the flies and worse

The flies that I found most bothersome were the ones that didnt respond to bug spray. They were the same ones biting through my clothes. I've always called these blackflies. A very small fly that is amazingly quick. I studdied the behavoir and found they are well adapted to environmental conditions. I tried to smack them with limited sucess. I found that if I tried a fake move with my hand they detected the threat and flew away. I was interested in the flying away and were they went so I followed one. They actually woudnt leave. Just like in the canoe they drop down and wait. I moved around on an exposed rock in high wind and found that they stay in the low pressure zone behind you. When you stop they fly down on the ground and wait. I tried this same concept in the canoe and sure enough I got more bites right when I stopped paddling. Increase the speed of the canoe coupled with wind and shazam they were gone back to the bottom of the canoe.
Horse flies on the other hand are dummer than a bag of hammers. Killing them is easier than pissin on two fingers.
