As far as Spam goes, I won't go on trail without a few packets of "Spam Singles".  As the advertising slogan says, they are "crazy tasty"!

PJ is all too familiar with spam, due to his fishing exploits. Grin Grin Grin

Thanks, I did catch the link to that concoction.  I have stayed away from spam as I get older the grease tends to cause issues with my system.  Delicate guy that I am.

Thanks for sharing, when are you going to be in the Des Moines area, we have a restaurant that does sell a spam sandwich, maybe you can give them your ideas?

Thats okay fishinbuddy.  "Box cars" are an old trail favorite from my YMCA days and kinda stuck with me.  Someone down at Hormel must have had some YMCA ties or were perhaps Alumni because we always had plenty of Spam on trail.  Try it w/ ham and you may change your mind.

No offense, I am pretty adventursome when it comes to food, but that combination would have never crossed my mind.   Grin

However, with my delicate system I had better stay away from that mixture while in the woods.  The results would be.... well let's just say Chernoblish. Wink

whatever the meal is be sure to pack out all the tinfoil. i don't know how many fire rings I find littered with little bits of tinfoil. i think that some people believe it burns away to nothing.

Tip for disposing of tin foil lined pouches (e.g, like many backpacking foods and several other food products are packaged in).

Don't put the material in the middle of the fire, put it on the edge.  In sufficiently close proximity, the paper (and any remaining food particles) will ignite and burn away.  You are left with an "in tact" foil film that can easily be extracted from the fire pit (when sufficiently cooled).  In addition, it will pick up very little ash, so can be compressed to almost nothing to pack out.

It you put it IN the fire, you are left with little shreads of aluminum foil, mixed in with the coals, that is nearly impossible to completely remove.
