I think that sounds good I like Kraut with Polish Sausage and potatoes baked in the oven. My Half-German ancestry there. Kraut would be one of those items that you could easily dehydrate. Just too keep legal
PS, My late Dad used too make a Chocolate Sauerkraut cake, that would knock you socks off! Kraut comes out tasting like coconut Google the recipe, you won't be disappointed

Sounds great, but you're not allowed to bring cans in the park You can pay your penance by taking out at least 2 more cans/foil/rope/twist-ties than you bring in.

I know, it sounds strange. but last night I chopped up a hard smoked andouille sausage and sauteed it with some red onion. When it all looked good I dumped a 6 oz can of Saurkraut in with it and stirred it around until it was all cooked. I have to tell you, the tiny extra weight of the 6 oz. can is worth it. the meal took me 5 mins to cook and it was delicious. The kraut in a can will obviously keep on a trip, and the andouille sausage will keep well too. This is a great quick meal for a trip!
