Well there you go Pine Knot !
I should have read this before my long winded answering of your PM with mostly conjecture.
Old Salt was right though, it's got a name and I ain't been there.
I've been to Dettbarn........and that's got a name.

I was in Ptolemy a few years back. We came in from Agnes and left down the dreek at the east end of the lake. It's a long way in from Agnes and the creek is steep. We found a nice camp site, rarely used, on a point a little to the west of the center of the lake. There are fish in Ptolemy, but I couldn't catch one. A very pretty lake. If I were going back, and I might, I'd enter and leave via the creek-side hill.

If you think I can help further, let me know.

Making plans with my 18- and 20-year old sons for 10-14 days in early-July 2010...looking to explore Kahshahpiwi area.  Has anyone been to Ptolemy in the past few years/  Anyone know of anyone?  Wondering whether it's possible to get there and if so from which direction and how difficult?  Any campsites?  Water clarity and depth?  Appreciate any info/advice.  Please pm if desired.
