Did any other QJer happen to be present the year the green Army Worms marched through the middle of Atikokan?  I understand they had to close down several of the streets because cars were slip-sliding all over the place on the green goo.  Eventually they brought out the fire trucks & blasted the streets clean using fire hoses.

I actually happened to hit town the following week.  The worm columns were still a natural marvel & an incredible sight to behold.  However, their main column had shifted east of town by a couple miles at that point.  Hwy 11 was all screwed up in places but greater metropolitan Atikokan was scoured clean again by the time we went through.

If you have EVER seen the movie, "The Naked Jungle", with Charlton Heston, you can begin to have a notion of the scale of insect invasion I am talking about here.  Green Army Worms are not nearly as dangerous as Brazil's "moribunte" (sp?) but they are a whole helluva lot messier!  I had never seen anything like it....

Before you know it there will be a shuttle service into the metropolitan area from Atikokan's InterGalactic Airport on the west side of town.

Right. Now that I know where it is they will move it, might as well, when I was there in Sept. the streets were all tore up anyway.
