Since the "Current Conditions & Trip Reports*" forum now needs two posts to access, people who have been multiple "members for years" and posted once or twice seem to be concerned about old login names.

If you have a new e-mail address and forgot your username/password combo, use the (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) link and I may be able to get you back in under one of your old name(s). This is especially true for Inuks but if I'm sure you are who you say you are that's close enough.

......

Being logged in means YOUR machine has a file on it (a cookie) that tells the forum who you are and what it can display for you. If you login for keeps, that cookie remains until deleted and you'll only have to login again if you delete the specific cookies containing your combo. Login for an hour and that cookie expires in an hour - meaning it simply disappears and you'll return as a guest after an hour. Post count is not part of cookie data. Post counts are stored on QJ and are name dependent.

.......

When you are logged in, the board will display your name for 10 minutes after your last click. If you log out you are listed as a guest for 10 minutes.

I know some try to make light footprints but being logged in or out has no effect on the ability of other user to access QJ or the forums. The only time you may want to logout is if you are using a public computer that others may later have access to. Point is being logging in or out has no appreciable effect on QJ. You are not freeing up resources by logging out so if you don't have a reason to, don't bother. I do appreciate the thought though.
