Yikes, that sucks.  At least you were heading home instead of the other way.

That's why I have:

Also............I want to thank EVERYONE here who responded or called me to offer help.

I had a few "plan B" options if I was not able to fix the trailer.  Fortunately, we got it fixed, and made it home in one piece.

I guess I now have another few items to add to my pre departure checklist......

Funny thing........I DID check the hubs, and greased the bearings.  I also tried to shake the axle, WHILE the trailer was jacked up.  Everything felt good, but from the looks of the leafs we took off, they were DEFINITELY in bad shape.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped out.

Later,

Geo

Man, what an ordeal.

I wanna put out a HUGE shoutout for Double D Services in Verona Wisconsin.

We were able to hookup with them and get a couple new leaf springs and the correct spaces to get us back rolling.......

Thanks guys for all the ideas on how to get  back on the road..........

Later,

Geo

I called Geo around 9am this morning, they were back in Madison looking for a place they could buy parts to fix it.

I grew up in southern WI, so know the area well & let him know if he needed any help or a place to keep trailer for a bit to give me a call. I have a lot of friends & relatives in the area.

I will actually be heading down that way on Friday.

Sounds like an old broken leaf spring-wish I was closer. Brake Supply in NE Mpls might be a source for parts (leaf spring, shackles, center bolt, and the the like if necessary) when they get home if he is from that neck of the woods. Been there done that! Undecided Placing a shipping timber between axle and trailer frame and securing (tying in) the timber in place will get them off the highway, and maybe even home. Hope this helps. Like I said before I wish I was closer to help.....Jacking up the trailer will make room for timber, jack to trailer frame rather than to axle...it will take the pressure of the remaining spring and make room for timber. Good luck Wink Now I see in Madison...parts in mpls. will not help. Cry

Hey everyone my phone just rang this morning and it was GeoFisher. They are on there way home from Quetico and the trailer they are pulling has broken down and is on the interstate with gear. I believe he said the leaf spring fell out. He is in need of someone that can fix the problem or help in getting his gear and 2 canoes off the interstate and store them until he can get back to pick up.
He ask me to post his cell Edited in hopes that some of you here on the board in that area might be able to help. He is in Madison WI right now, trailer is south of Madtown about 20 miles on I 39.
Thanks Bo
