I am planning a trip for our family this summer (wife and two kids 4, 2) and am thinking about the Pine Lake area in the eastern BWCA.  I have never been there, but have seen pics of nearby Johnson Falls.  I was thinking Johnson Falls would be fun to visit for swimming.

My questions are:
Can you swim in the pool below the falls (like Louisa Falls) or is it too shallow/filled with rocks?

Where does the trail to the falls start?  My map shows the falls, but no trail to them.

Thanks.
