The Hunters Island loop is in Q. You can begin almost anywhere. It retraces the common routes of the Voyageurs. It runs along Minnesota border from Saganaga L west to Lac La Croix, north to Maligne River to Sturgeon, Russell, and back thru Kawnipi and the Falls Chain. It would probably be easier to do the loop in reverse of my description. You will find some historic artifacts along the way. Be advised of a lengthy detour if coming from Thunder Bay. It may be quicker to approach from International Falls.

We're coming from Northern Wisconsin and are willing to drive north of Thunder bay - maybe to Woodland?  Thanks for the response I'll check them out! - Where is the Hunters Island route?  BC is too far for this trip

The Hunter's Island route is fairly adventurous. You could plan to begin/end at multiple entry points...

sure, look "here" and pick something you like

Bowron Lakes loop route would fit - mix of river and lakes in BC high country; but since you don't say where you'd be coming from, or how far your willing to drive, I can't say if that's a good choice or not (Canada was still a big place last time I looked at a map).

Can anyone help us out to suggest a canoe ADVENTURE route in Canada?  Our trip planning is getting to the critical stage as far as time. (mid Aug. is our planned dates) Here is what we are dealing with.  We have two families that include 4 adults, 4 kids (age 10-17) and 4 canoes.  We are fairly experienced - all the kids have been on multiple BWCAW trips.  The adults have been canoe camping all over from local rivers/lakes in Wisconsin to the Back River in the tundra.

We wanted a trip with more adventure and exploration than BWCAW.  We were considering Wabakimi, but the logistics (shuttles)and cost (fly in)of the trip is making us queasy(and confused).  We can do both rivers (we'd portage the rapids) or lakes.  We have two vehicles so we can run our own shuttle.  We have 7-10 days of time blocked off right now.

Does any one have a suggestion?  I fear that right now our dreams of adventure are slipping away and we'll end up going back to the BWCAW.  Thanks for any suggestions....
