Went in thru Stanton 2 years back. It is to the right (west) of the parking lot down a hill... find it really surprising that you couldn't find that trail! I did hear about a washout last year, perhaps with the lack of use caused by the washout the entrance has gotten a little more overgrown. Park

Am I the only one who finds it Ironic, that a put-in reserved for Canadians or people outfitted by Canadians, couldn't be FOUND by a Canadian Seriously though, I went in there 1 time, in 2006 I believe. The trail was as Mk631 described. Hard to miss then. Maybe the area has been re-worked. Any of the outfitter in Atikokan should be able to tell you where you went astray.

I'd provide GPS coordinates, but I didn't have my GPS on that early. -- scratch that -- I did have it on & here's the first several points, I think the first is in the parking lot & the next few are on the trail...

It shows mostly west from the lot and then due south for a bit...but by that time you're on the trail.

I searched and took the trail to left of parking area thinking this was it but after a short trip with most gear found this to not be the portage trail.

I ended up back at Fench Lake and started my trip from here. So all was not lost but was not the trip I had planned.
