Same preferences as the OP. Colour will change until the fish hit. One year red & white worked best, another it was blue & silver...

My dad has always been partial to the Krocodile spoons with the prism tape on them.

Spoons are always a good option for casting from the campsite, especially if it's windy and you can't throw body baits very well.
