Are you thinking about the Quetico shore of Basswood - from PP through Bayley, Merriam, North, Lost, and Ranger Bays to BW Falls? All paddle, no protage? I keep that in mind - an all Basswood all the time trip.

That's my understanding as well. So you'd be better off getting a BWCA permit, paddling/towing to PP, hit the Quetico station for a permit, then paddle to North Bay first and then work your way back through Jackfish, Pipestone, Back Bay and out via Wind Bay....still a great fishing trip!!
Of course! Duh! I was drawn to an especially favored spot to start the trip but perhaps the best can be saved for last.

My plans for summer seem to be in constant flux.......first I was bound back to WCPP to even things up. Then I was doing an aggressive trip into the Quetico with some pals........
Now I'm kickin around something I had intended for when I was an old codger..........but since I'm currently feeling like an old codger (as in totally exhausted) I am considering paddling around Basswood starting at Moose lake.........a kinder gentler trip which is what everyone seems to want.
Since my intention is to enter Basswood at wind bay via wind lake and tour back bay, pipestone and jackfish before entering the Quetico some several days later in Ranger Bay I am curious as to how the permitting process would work in Quetico. Can I check in at PP and have my entry be several days later? Just wondering how that might work...........
