I was at Sarah last year and we didn't have much luck fishing and we spent many hours trying.  We were there in September maybe that was the problem, you might have better luck in the spring.

On Sarah, I also found Lakers on south side of the larger island NW of the big island.  You should also be able to locate smallies in the small bay that has the portages into McIntyre and you might try the larger bay north of there.

Sarah is a fantastic lake, and has great Lake Trout fishing in the spring, (May), and they're easy to catch.  Troll 10-15' between the shore and the island, south of the campsite on the point.  And, as KF says, in the big bay to the south of the island.

My first trip to Quetico was to Sarah Lake. It rained hard for about 30 straight hours! I did catch Lakers right where KF says and a couple nice Walleyes on Tuck. We were not really going for SM, but it seems like the area suggested would be good. Providing you don't get stuck on a boulder and nearly drill a hole in the bottom of the hull trying to get dislodged like we did.

Sarah Lake:
Smallmouth can be outstanding if the timing is right in and around the shallow bay that has the portage to Tuck. Look for the best action pre and during the spawn early to mid-June in normal years. This year is NOT shaping up to be normal!
Lake trout can be caught in several parts of Sarah but I like trolling the area south of the big island in the south half of the lake. Stay in 40-50' of water but get as close to shore as you can in July and August.

This will be my 30th spring trip to Quetico. Every one of my trips has been through PP entry. I mainly base camp and fish, moving only twice during a week at most. I know every lake within a two day paddle of PP from Gardner Bay & Elk Lake on East, with a couple exceptions. I've never spent time on Sarah or McIntrye other than paddling though. Are these two decent lakes for smallmouth, walleye & pike ? Are there any good areas to concentrate on in these lakes ?
