I'll echo the rehab & physical therapy. I had my left hip done two years ago and I'm still doing the exercises every day. No stiffness and my range of motion is better then ever. I'll be heading up Moose on September 8th for 11 days. Can't wait Smiley

OK, but not if it means 100 degrees like we had here in Michigan.  I told them if it is like that, I am not going!   Grin

Not surprised at all.  Modern medicine, as you said, is amazing, and you are one tough guy!  Have a great trip, Mike!  We'll be out in the BW at that time ourselves, September 5-10, from Sawbill to Cherokee, and perhaps Frost, with HoHo and David.

Thanks Lynda.  Your trip sounds great.  Let's hope for Indian Summer!

Wow cool. Do you expect any stiffness, range of motion issues? Perhaps less issues?

No real issues.  I'm a bit stiff when I sit for a long time, so I suppose the hip will be stiff getting out of a canoe.  Range of motion is better than pre-op.  Still working on strengthening muscles, but I feel ready!

On June 25 I had my severely arthritic left hip replaced in a "THR" (total hip replacement) surgery at Mayo in Rochester, MN.  On September 8, 76 days later, I'll be back in a canoe, paddling with three friends up Little Indian Sioux for a week trip up into Lac La Croix then down through Moose Lake.  It won't be a tough trip, but it's still a trip.  Modern medicine is amazing!
