My wife and I will be spending 3 days in one of the yurts at French Lake in early March to do some snowshoeing on the trails in the French Lake area (including one that goes along beside Baptism Creek) and on the lake itself. We did the same thing 3 years ago and loved it. At the time we were there (early February), park staff told us we were the only two people in all of Quetico Park.

I wonder if winter tripping is worthy of a category here or is this a paddle only site? I am going to be at Bearskin lodge on Bearskin lake from Jan 2-5 to ski the trails and enjoy the comforts of the lodge at night. But my eldest is really interested in doing a winter Quetico trip and so this is a baby step in that direction. Any one else doing winter trips into Quetico? Or fantasizing about a really cold trip?

PS pretty good snow here in MN/WI this winter. 5th straight day out on my skis, today in the Minnesota River valley by Beaver Falls. We made the only human tracks to be seen.
