This is almost depressing.  I go to the BW too early for serviceberries and both too early and too late for blueberries.  I've seen cranberries, but that's it.

It's the price I pay for avoiding bugs.  Oh well....

So far everything I have heard points to a banner blueberry year! Always wanted to make the Blueberry Festival but appears I will be a few days late. Guess we will have our own on Brent beginning Aug. 4th.

Hopefully enough ripe ones for fresh blueberry pies in Ely at the Blueberry Arts Fest.  I believe it's the Lion's Club that sells pie and food in the pavillion at the center of the park in town.  I'll be in town for that, then on the 30th, off to Quetico for 10 days with a long time friend.

Anyone from QJ going to be in the area then?  Last year I saw a very nice Old Town Koru (#5 of 50) in carbon fiber layup on top of a red VW Jetta with Ontario plates in front of the funeral home.  It had QJ decals on it.  Be nice to run into any of you folks this year.

Having paddled with these migrant workers, their paddling skills are substantial. The real issue is the need to secure Minnesota's southern border to stop the invasion from Iowa and points south. We should probably send them back. Cool

I have been up there a couple of times in the last month and it looks like it will be a bumper crop this year. Lots and lots of green berries. My kids were up over the 4th and they said that a few berries were starting to show color and were getting to be pretty good size. I expect that the next couple of weeks they will be getting into prime time. I am heading into the park in 2 weeks and we are counting on lots of blueberry oatmeal and pancakes. Have a good trip.

How's this year's crop looking?  I'm heading in next week; would love to find some fresh berries.  Do we have a good crop this year?  I assume they are running late but hoping some will be ripe while we are up there.
