Excellent thinking ST! Seems to me you would be a superb engineering type.

Kerry.........one thing I have found in life to be true, I have quite often purchased things that at the time of acquisition had no defined purpose. But suddenly their usage became apparent and their utility made effective after encountering situations that favor their implementation. I can think of lots of power and hand tools that fit that description.

A good canoe trip example are those rubber coated twist ties that you see at Home Depot. I sensed their practicality for years but couldn't envision a specific usage. I finally broke down and picked some up and last canoe trip I found them perfectly suited for several applications.

On the other hand, I have resisted the loop rope purchase as well...... ............if I was the cook for a sizable group though I could see the practicality of hanging various pots and pans etc. etc.

I made something similar for vehicle camping.
I took short piece of para-cord I had laying around and tied it into a loop. I had some clear plastic line like you use on ice makers. 3/8" I think? Cut the tubing into 1" lengths and slid them on the loop. Tied knot on each end so tubing can't fall off. You can slide the tubing to make whatever size loop you need for whatever your hanging.
I use a small bungee on one tree and more para- cord on the other tree. The bungee keeps tension on the loop. Key is the tubing must be snug on the loop, but still able to slide. I think you could use some leftover tent-pole bungee cord and that tubing and make a pretty good DIY imitation of it?

I've had my eye on one or two of those for a couple of years now but I keep thinking that it's probably a better idea than it would be of practical use.

Someone might like this, especially if you are base camping and preparing viddles for a group.......seems like it would be handy for hanging cooking "stuff".

I have eyed one for a few years now and will probably get one sooner or later as it seems flexible and practical. Biner it around a tree or stretch it out with an assist from a rope, might be handy (5ft)
