I came upon this while reading an article about a American women who had come up with a cooking stove (Ecocina) to help the poor cook more safely/efficiently in developing nations.

We have some do it yourself people here and they have many ideas and plans for stoves that someone might enjoy making for their backyard or maybe a group or scout type event?

Plenty of people are buying/making brick ovens for backyard roasting/bread making, they have some good info on kilns/homemade fire bricks etc.

Some metal stoves probably could be downsized and taken on paddling trip for small wood stove.
