My current dream is to raft and fish a SW Alaska river during a big salmon run. Fishing rainbows and salmon for a week or so would be a hoot!

Dream trip - torn between Lake of the Woods to Grand Portage, Applacian Trail, and North Forest Canoe Trail.

this summer will be the 10th year of myself and 2 brothers going to the Q. its going to be a nostalgia trip in the sense that we are going to camp and stay where we did that very first year, the year that got us hooked.

we are going to invite our father this year, as he has overcome some health issues, but chances are he wont be able to go. hes going to be 74, we are 25/27/29, and hes the most mobile hes been in years. that would be a dream trip to have him join us.

my son was born on thanksgiving, hes now 4 months old, so in a few years the new dream trip will be the one where mom finally agrees hes old enough to come.

Dreams can change, or their possibilities. It's better to do them when you have them, or the closest thing possible, instead of waiting till you think you can.

Experiences are more rewarding than stuff.

Seems like every year we’re planning our dream trip and every year it is.  Five years ago my wife and I did a 20-day trip in the Quetico, the following year a 21 day trip in Wabakimi.  Then 3 years ago we tried WCPP and completely fell in love with that park.  This August we’re back for the 4th year, this time for 26 days on the water.  Our trips are leisurely.  We’ll be starting over on the western edge of the park – Broken Arrow Lake – and heading west to Royd, over to Indian House and then out through Douglas beyond the eastern boundary.  Still, I’m sure we could easily do that trip in half the time but we’re in no rush.  We love the solitude, the fishing and the intimacy of being so closely and deeply connected in the natural world.  This year I plan to try my hand at night sky photography so maybe we’ll actually stay up late enough to experience the Aurora, if we’re lucky.  Only four more months until our “dream” trip!

Now, my goals have changed.  Sharing a week in the woods with my 3 girls is all the highlight I need these days.

Maybe someday the girls will decide they have better things to do than spend a week in the woods with their dad but until that happens, mega-adventure is crossed off my list...unless they develop their own thirst for it.

I am glad I got that trip out of my system before I started tripping with my girls though.  One never knows when such opportunity will strike again, if ever, so it felt right to seize the moment.

My dream trip depends largely upon whichever park or location that is my current focus. I could imagine a  Hunter island route that would have me out for 3 weeks and be pure heaven.

I could also see a really, really long circumnavigation of WCPP. Wabakimi also has a possibilities to come in through, say Smye, head up the Fllndt River to Wabami and on to Whitewater and to Shultz landing. On that note, I sat in on one of Rob Kesselring's presentations of Far North trips.....and now I've been "infected" with that idea....but then, that is the very definition of a 'dream', isn't it?  up

My dream trip may be this August/September.  My wife is retiring this May and I hope to scale way back by this summer.  We are planning two weeks over the Labor Day week.  It took years to get my wife to increase her time in Quetico.  I started with a three day trip to Beaverhouse and over the years have increased to over a week.  Early September is a beautiful time to be in the Park.
