I've sold/bought a few boats. 1/2 new on a lightly used boat is about right, 1/3 new on a more used but not damaged is still OK. Less than 1/3 new if the boat needs some repairs, but can still be brought back to life. These are all common rec boat prices.
Some still competitive racing boats may go for closer to new price, but I'm talking ~1k off of 4-5k$, so still a good discount from new. Plus you're dealing with getting on a waiting list for custom builders.

I picked up a used Merlin II a couple three years back in very good shape - old enough that it was a Ted Bell boat and not a post Ted Bell Merlin II. I gave about half the original purchase price at $1250 and feel I got a fair deal. I'd ballpark it at $13-1500.00, but the value of anything, naturally is what anyone is willing to give for it at that point in time - like $450 Million for an old painting....not for me. What was the asking price or do you know what it went for? Apparently, it was priced right for someone.

There is a Prism for sale nearby a relative of mine. Kevlar UL model with aluminum trim at 34 lbs. Year unknown, many photos show excellent to near new condition. Current price of a new one is around $2650. Anybody want to ballpark a used value? I am seriously considering going to have a look. Thanks,
