You'll know how difficult Jean Crk will be when you enter it from Sturgeon? At the lowest, I've ever seen it the entrance was so narrow I had to stand and pole myself thru but was able to paddle the rest of the way. Maybe a foot of water for a stretch.

If you're going to Jean, you might consider that little portage into Ceph lk rather than the one north on Burnside?  Read the tail end of my Fubar report.

ST, after reading your account of that portage my left hip and both knees are now hurting.  I think I'll stick to the creek!  Thanks for your input.  My motto is "Learn from others".  Smiley Wink

I've been up/down Jean Crk, spring/fall, low water included and it's always been passable. The beavers are active now in Jean Crk so that could change that equation if the water level is low?

Here's my Yeh portage experience. Granted I had a gimpy right foot, it's a tough portage but survivable.

Has anyone paddled this between Sturgeon and Rouge Lake?  I'm wondering if it could be a problen in early September. Any help is appreciated.

I also have the option of taking the portage from Lonely to Yeh Lake but all accounts are that's it's long and rough. Is it survivable if solo?  Sad Grin
