I’m headed out on a 6-night trip in the SW part of Quetico, starting June 30. We are a family of 5, including 3 girls ages 8, 10, 12. We are getting towed to Black Robe, then going through McAree and into Darky, then Argo, then down into Crooked and eventually being picked up at Bottle. We are experienced Quetico people, but looking for particular advice/suggestions on this trip. Specifically, I’m planning 2 layover days, one on Darky and one on Argo. We have the option of going over into the western side of Brent if we had reason do that. Our primary trip goals are staying at 5 star sites when possible, and having some decent fishing. Without sounding arrogant I think I’m an above-average Quetico fisherman. That said, any advice of specific locations in Darky or Argo for good fishing would be nice. I will definitely go after trout in Argo, and have caught them there before. It’s a big lake, so anyone have a hotspot? The rest of the time we are looking for walleyes but as usual, end up with plenty of pike and smallmouth in search of the walleyes. If anyone has had good luck on walleyes anywhere on our route, I’d appreciate any info. I’ve looked at paddle planner to get the info on nice campsites. That is helpful, but first hand recommendations are always better. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
