While I don’t know the answer to your question, as a waldo fisherman, I would camp on whichever waldo lake you think will be best.  Wink

Welcome aboard to QJ!  Cool

Someone will be able to give you a better answer. Wink

Thanks Old Salt, I appreciate the welcome.  There's just too many awesome options for base camp in that area and I can't make up my mind.   Roll Eyes  Starting to lean towards camping on Gaskin and day tripping out from there.  Or maybe just work our way in on our entry day and stop wherever we feel like stopping at the end of the day.

2 years ago I did my one and only trip into the BWCA.  I base camped on Vista for the week and really enjoyed myself.  This coming June I'm taking my son-in-law along on what will be his first trip up there.  I'm leaning towards staying on Horseshoe this time since I want to see some new scenery and increase our chances of getting pics of a moose (I didn't see any on my 2018 trip).

My question for those of you that know the area better, what would be the better day trip fishing lakes in the area?  Looking for walleye and I've heard Meeds is pretty good.  I've also heard Swamp Lake is killer for walleye, if you want to make the long portage in to it.  What about Gaskin?

Not looking for exact fishing spots, just a general shove in the right direction.  Thanks in advance!
