From a man's perspective it seems to me that while your using one of these you're letting the bugs have a lot more time to bite you compared to just a quick TP wipe, maybe a biodegradable cleaning wipe afterward?  Undecided Grin Grin

I bought this one on Amazon and used it on a couple of trips.

Very little bio-hazards in the water of Quetico-Superior, probably less to worry about than your average municipal supply.

I don't want to waste time and fuel boiling water

Rather that having to use fuel to heat the water and the time to do it, why not let the sun do the work?

Get one of these. I have one and it works great. Fill in the morning and lay in sun around camp or on top of pack in canoe as you paddle. Even on cloudy days it would heat the water enough for what you want.

If your worried about the water, put a few water purifying tabs in the solar bag. If you can take it internally I don't think it will hurt your butt.  Wink Grin

You don't have to fill the bag full either. I have a 5 gallon one but used it for showers.

Well, ask yourself this. How might that water be any be different than swimming in the same lake?

FWIW - I think an 8oz Medline Cleansing Bottle could work well for a trip ... very light and rather flexible with four little squirty holes...

Room temp? Fine. If a Spring trip, as long as we're talking luxury, I'd warm that water or go without.

That's just me though.

Hi, everyone. I'm a long-time member, but like a fair-weather friend, only visit when I have a trip coming up. I'm in the very early stages of planning a western-side trip in 2025. So glad that this forum continues to flourish.

My question:

I am a bidet convert and I have sort of a fancy one at my house. I got to thinking that a travel bidet might be a good idea for my trip--less paper waste and I truly do feel cleaner with one. But I have a question about one aspect of the idea--I get a little bothered by the idea of using untreated lake water in such a way (I'm female, so it may be even more of a concern for us women?) but I don't want to waste time and fuel boiling water just to be used for my butt. Anyone bring a bidet, anyone have thoughts about needing to treat the water first if you do bring one?
