Cairn?

Been there.

Okay - haven't been "there" but close.  I hope to be there though mid May pending Pascanell's plans.  Will leave a treat for all the folks!  Wink

I love it.  If I'm fortunate enough, I'll make every effort to talk my crew into getting into the area.  I'll tell them that Cairn has outstanding fishing.  Maybe I can even bring my sonar rig.  Wink Wink

I'm thinkin' bush plane. Shocked Stumpy, any midlake rocks to worry about? ??? And yes, Cairn does have some outstanding fishing.
So does Stumpy's Pond. Grin Grin, if you don't mind being ''out standing'' for bullheads. Wink Wink

Maybe this map version of the Stumpy Lake area with contour topo lines would be helpful (extracted and modified from etopo).

HMM - are those 50 ft. contour lines?  Do I read this correctly that Lake Stumpy is 150' above Cairn?

Closer to 200'! Toughies paddle & portage upstream. Getting there is only half the fun. Grin Grin Be sure to meet Stumpy on Cairn to offer a hand with his revolutionary ''Camel Pack''. Its only 15 gallons! Grin Grin Roll Eyes Tongue

Well, I figure to beat Old_Salt to the punch by posting something like this five days before HE is likely to.  So here goes....

IT IS ONLY 105 DAYS to Stumpy's Bushwhackers Jamboree!!!

This strange Quetico "happening" will separate men from boys, bushwhackers from mere portagers, foolhardy from the sensible, chub fishermen from the sport fisherman, mosquitos & black flies from their haunts on the lake to chase the whackies into the Bush, etc. & so on.

Those of you who are going EITHER have your permits OR you hope to hook on with other deluded souls who already possess one.  Your plan is made & you are committed.  Heck, since telling my wife about MY plan to go, she's been tells me everyday that I should be "committed".  Anyway, some QJ'ers have, at one time or another, indicated interest in this bizarre event.  HOWEVER, I find myself wondering if I should REALLY expect to see ANY other QJ'ers blazing trails to the Chub Pond....

So, after it is all said & done, will any other QJ'er be able to tell the tale?  [On the PLUS side, IF the answer is NO, I'll be free to tell whatever the hell kind of tale I choose to].  That presumes, of course, that I will FIND the place to be ABLE to tell the tale.

Anyone else out there willing to admit to the Quest?

Even now, I fancy I hear the distant call of Pink Flamingos as they settle upon yonder Chub Pond....

Hey, sources in low places tell me that valuable Jamboree mementos/"door prizes" will be provided to some lucky campers.

Perhaps that tidbit of information will serve as an enticement to any "fence-sitters" out there.
