Jimbo, I'm flattered that you'd think of me when it comes to Stumpy's Pond.
1) Shouldn't this thread be moved to the ''rendevous'' area??
2) Are you giving away you prized flock of pink flamingos? Shocked Shocked
3) Is this a scam to get others to portage your leisure toys? Shocked
4) Would any fisherman in their right mind go there?? I'll let you answer this one. Wink Wink
5) There are some parts of this planet I don't need to see. Tongue
6) After last year, bullheads don't fit in my picture. ??? ???
7) Not everyone has pink flamingos! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
8) Yes, there is hope!! Grin Grin Grin

Don't be so quick to judge, Old Salt.
I'm sure you've heard of the blue walleyes of Joyce
or the silver pike of Disappointment ?
Well, wait'll you see the red bullhead of Chub Pond !!!
You'll think you portaged to Mars !

Then again, what's to say I'm NOT an Allien, gathering a crew to hitch a ride on the next Comet...or Maverick....which ever comes along first ?  Roll Eyes

Twas not a judgement, Stumpy,
Twas a priority!!
Last years trip produced too few waldos,
05 shall produce an abundance of waldos and lakers!!

Bullheads and chubs have their role in the natural world,
I would never deny anyone, especially you Stumpy,
the sheer joy and ecstasy of reeling in another red bullhead
on light tackle-remember who has to carry it!

The reel question is
lest we digress
who will join Stumpy and Jimbo
in their mutual quest

for happiness and fulfillment
in a swamp pond
where pink flamingos breed
and ''one more red bullhead'' is all they need!!

Old_Salt,

Referencing your Question #4
___________________________________________
"Would any fisherman in their right mind go there?"
___________________________________________

There you go, dredging up my wife's argument about having me "committed", again!

Well, at the very least, I expect to catch a few fish on the way TO & BACK from Stumpy Land.

It doesn't appear that I'll NEED to catch all that many fish, either.  My original party of 4-6 has recently dwindled down to two and possibly just one (1), if my college freshman son pulls a certain important Summer Internship down in the Carolinas.

A frequent partner, my brother, WAS going but, after careful "Old_Salt-like" reflection, he made the following observation: "WHY the hell do I want to hack my way through a mile of nasty wilderness, boot-sucking swamp, & who-knows-what just to get bitten by bugs while sitting on some desolate beach on some godforsaken lake with a bunch of bullshitting tall tale tellers?"

I secretly thought that referring to potential Jamboreers as a "bunch" might be a bit optimistic but I held my tongue.  However, I didn't get very far with the response I DID give him: "It would be just like Old Times!" [referring to a 1996 debacle, notorious in our family circles, occurring 'somewhere' a few miles NW of Cache Lake]

Brother Gary & his friends are now eyeballing my more sedentary Autumn Base Camp Trip option.

Well, the way I look at it, it won't take all that many chubs to mix in with my Cache Lake Fish Chowder Mix to make a fine meal.  BTW, that stuff is great!!

Let the faint of heart vegetate on their sofas!  Seize the day & the Flamingos!!  I say 'on with the Quest' and those fabulous 'door prizes'!!!

I just got to thinking about this....

144 "replies" to this thread (thus far; this is #145)!  6204 "views" as of thirty seconds ago!!  Yet ONLY Stumpy, QP, & myself have confessed to "The Quest"... and I'm not even sure QP has done so on THIS website.

Hmmmmm... what does everybody know that I don't know??

Maybe the REAL question is: WHO does everybody know???

Is it Stumpy??  Did they just let him out of prison?  Is he a known practitioner of Voodoo or something similar?

You know, there just might be a decent story on the other end of this bizarre expedition yet!  Tune in around late June & learn the REST OF THE STORY....
********************************************

JUST 104 DAYS REMAINING UNTIL BUSHWHACKER'S JAMBOREE AND THOSE FABULOUS DOOR PRIZES!!  COME ONE, COME ALL!!

Well, I was reading all the entries in the "Monikers" thread the other day and came across this:

Monikers ?
OK
We've all heard variations of the story around campfires...
When I was on our high school trips, we were told about a guy up on McIntyre lake. The crazy, orphaned, axe wielding woodsman, that got his leg caught in a trap as a boy. He had a peg leg. He also was supposed to have chopped up several scouts in their tents on McIntyre, back in the 40's....but of course, he was still alive. His calling card was a THUMP, THUMP, THUMP, deep in the woods....and his name was Stumpy !

You still coming to the Bush Whackers Jamboree ?   Smiley

Kinda gives you food for thought, eh Jimbo?

Flamingo's drink too much and I can't carry the amount of whisky they would demand.  Couple this with being in a remote - very remote - part of the Q.  Angry, 1/2 drunk flamingos + potential convicted felon's on the lam + red bullheads = bad, bad, bad.

Plus, my vacation slot is in May anyway.

I don't think anybody is showing up, so once the date has passed I'm telling everyone I was there.  If by some weird chance somebody challenges me, I'll say that they were the one that wasn't there.  Grin

Also, I may consider making an alliance with several people and we'll all claim to have been there.  Perhaps gather in a wooded area outside some tavern and snap some photos to prove we were there!   Grin
