It wasn't Ralphie.  It was "POOR Flick" who was the victim of Schwartz's breach of protocol.  And it was the flag pole.

Thats right dd!  Oh my this is a great forum, and with outstanding contribution.  Cheesy  Its a little known fact this classic movie was the inspiration for all of Jerry Seinfield's rise to fame (well maybe).  Poor Flick grew up to be George.

Stumpy,

Don't fret so much about Jamboree PR.  You're getting TOO excited over that unfamiliar word I used.  Calm down.  Count to ten. Check your dictionary.  The word I used is spelled "h-o-r-d-e-s".

I suspect YOU were thinking about another word that sounds much the same as my word BUT it is spelled a little differently, with a silent "w" at its beginning.  It also means something quite different. It means "women of ill repute".

"Hordes of bushwhackers" is one thing.  On the other hand, what YOU were thinking of might make for an altogether different type of Jamboree.  I am sorry I got you SO confused, excited, and worked into a lather.

Perhaps you understand a little better now why dictionary skills are so important to us all?

So let's forget about that OTHER KIND of Jamboree.  Save the thought for 2010, ok?  Concentrate, stay focused, & keep THIS Jamboree a clean, wholesome, family-oriented event.   Alright?

That would be "butler", NOT "maid", at least in MY case, Old_Salt.  You'd best get that one right, ol' buddy, ol' pal!

VIVA LA JAMBOREE!!!

Monsieur Jacques Bo,

what has happended to the highly anticipated event know as "Jimboree" or should it be "Jacques Bo Ree" to be held in conjunction with the "noted" Jamboree...???   I thought there were to be T-shirts, pink flamingo prizes and and autographed pictures of the world renown voyager... old_salt available to all who came...  for those of us less hardy or unable to get to Stumpy's Carnival of Bushwacking... we were so looking foreward to the spectacle...  Alas... once again hopes are dashed to pieces... Sad Sad Sad
Perhaps if not this year then... in 2010 in conjunction with that Jamboree...

I don't mean to hijack this thread (as if that would even be possible), but I was wondering what YB means with that statement.

The actor who played Flick (Scott Schwartz) grew up to be an adult film star, and George as I understand it was based on Seinfeld's co-creator Larry David.

Resume normal programming.

Bruce,

THIS year I go into the Park loaded for bear (that's "figurative speech" ONLY, for all of you "animal rights activist" QJ'ers).  Santa Claus brought Jimbo a really neat digital binocular camera so he can document whatever unusual life forms (pink, etc.) he might come across around the Chub Pond.  Surely, despite my techno-ignorance, even I can figure a way to post those pics to my Jamboree Trip Report.  Also, I don't really know if Stu at the Boundary Waters Journal will want to give the event its PROPER coverage, but I may well invest in some "slide film" for that eventuality, just in case I choose to do a story & submit.  Slide film is the only kind of picture he'll accept.  Anyway, Bruce, there SHOULD be plenty of documentation & pictures, autographed & otherwise.

I have ALSO invested in a Garmin 60C which I hope gives me better odds on actually FINDING this chub hole.

As for "Jimboree", well, it WILL take place as previously announced... in the chub hole due north of Stumpy's chub hole-in-the-wall.  I'll be passing through that so-called "body of water" to get to his paradise anyway (any fool can see that bushwhackers will need to drop down from the north versus wading through the Cairn Lake Swamp on Skeeterville Creek!).  En route, I intend to set up a "shrine" on the beach of that chub hole & dedicate it to Old_Salt.  Too bad he won't be around for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Next...

C-Dub,

Re: Flick & George...when has YB (or anyone else around here, for that matter) EVER let the facts get in the way of a good story?!?

HEY, JUST 97.5 DAYS/JOURS LEFT UNTIL WHOLESOME FAMILY FUN, FABULOUS DOOR PRIZES, AND JAMBOREE!!!  STAY TUNED!!!

I don't mean anything by it C-dub, short of thinking that the aforementioned film has some of the same style of humor as Seinfield.  And that is in regards to expanding the quirks in life into something hilarious.  I don't follow the careers of the TV personalities.  Yes, my improv needs work.  But I figure it is as accurate as what the media dishes out.
